Overview

Nosewalk ("the App") is a GPS tracking tool designed for IGP dog training. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

Data We Collect

Location Data

  • The App collects GPS location data to record training tracks (laying paths and tracking paths).
  • Location data is collected in both the foreground and background while a tracking session is active.
  • Background location collection stops when you complete or cancel a tracking session.
  • Location data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to external servers unless you use cloud sync features.

Account Information

  • If you create an account, we collect your email address and password (securely hashed) via Supabase authentication.
  • Optional profile information: display name and profile photo.

Training Data

  • Dog profiles (name, notes) you create within the App.
  • Track history including paths, articles placed, weather conditions, distance, and speed metrics.
  • Training plans you create or save.

Weather Data

The App fetches weather data from the Open-Meteo API based on your current location. This request includes your approximate coordinates but no personal identifiers. Open-Meteo does not require an API key and does not track users.

Purchase Information

If you subscribe to Nosewalk Pro, purchase transactions are handled entirely by Google Play. We receive a purchase receipt to verify your subscription status but do not have access to your payment details.

How We Use Your Data

  • Location data: Solely to record and display your training tracks on the map.
  • Account data: To authenticate you and sync your training plans across devices.
  • Training data: To display your track history, dog statistics, and training plans.
  • Weather data: To display weather conditions at the time of each training session.
  • Purchase receipts: To verify your subscription tier (Free or Pro).

Data Storage

  • Local storage: Most data (dogs, tracks, settings, session state) is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage.
  • Cloud storage: If you create an account, training plans are synced to Supabase (hosted in the cloud). Account profile data and subscription tier are also stored in Supabase.
  • No third-party analytics: We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Your data is only transmitted to:

  • Supabase: For authentication, plan sync, and profile storage (only if you create an account).
  • Open-Meteo: Anonymous weather data requests based on approximate location.
  • Google Play: Purchase verification for subscriptions.

Data Retention

  • Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
  • Cloud data (plans, profile) is retained while your account is active.
  • You can delete your account and all associated cloud data from the Profile screen within the App.

Your Rights

  • Access: View all your data within the App (tracks, dogs, plans, settings).
  • Export: Export all your data as a JSON file via the Settings screen.
  • Delete: Delete individual tracks, dogs, or plans. Delete your entire account from the Profile screen.
  • Revoke permissions: You can revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings. The App will not function fully without location access.

Children's Privacy

Nosewalk is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and server-side receipt validation for purchases.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
